Interviewed after the world's sculling championship race, the winner, Barry, said that he had relied on the same old tactics—lie* let his. opponent cut out the paco to Hammersmith, and then began rowing. Pearcc, lie considered, was faster than Arnst. Pearce, interviewed, said that lie r di<l not want to exouse his defeat, but both his arms became cramped when leading by four lengths, and hla was unable* to hold the sculls. He had jarred his arms when rowing in rough water last week. PADDON CHALLENGES BARRY. (Rec. July 23, 9.30 p.m.) Sydney, July 23. James Paddon has ohaltenged BaTry for the sculling championship. He invites Barry to come to Australia, but the challenge is not conditional ■ on that. Paddon is prepared to row in either hemisphere. ■ ,
