VALLANCE COOK MISSION.

Last night the ' Vallancc Cook Mission attracted a good audience. In place of Scripture reading .by the missioner, Soripturo quotations were readily given by many present—most tolling and appropriate—and proved a welcome change to tho usual routine. The text was, "Oueneh not the Spirit." Originally, said the missioner, the words were spoken to members of tho church, but they also were applicable to all men, and it was plain that every man possesses tire Spirit oi God and overy man may quench the Spirit. Uo is present .in every man to lead him to the -right and to turn him from tho wrong. Everv man may be saved, for "God will liavo ail men to bo >aved." A man entering a church asked, "Is this placo where every man has a chance?" Said the missioner, "Yes, every man lias a chance!" The Good Spirit speaks to men through eon.-cienee ami through memory— mercifullv God leaves not men alone. He speaks; mail has option. Pity it is man can rei-ist and l'cluse. ~ May it not be some of vou are thus quenching (he Spirit? Tho greatest calamity that can come to man is quench the Spirit. Death of our best beloved is a less calamity. Men are never forsaken by the loving Father but men may forsake [Jim. Spurn not the good and the holy. "Quench not tho Spirit, i btseecb all of you." pleaded the mi-isioner. The forcible appral ol the preacher made evident impiasum wi all present.
