A LURID PICTURE.
♦- OF LABOUR CONDITIONS ON THE RAND. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Capo Town, July 21. A meeting, attended by 3500 people, was held in the City Hall. Mr. - Balmsforth, a popular Unitarian preacher, painted a lurid picture of labour conditions on the Rand. Ho alleged that while dividonds of 220 to 2io per cent, were being paid, the sacreiness of human life was lacking. (Sensation.) Since tho war one hundred thousand lives had been sacrificed. The meeting passed ft resolution asking tho Imperial Government to inquire regarding tho shooting of women aud children.
