Mr. Robert Howe, an old-timo West' Coast settler, died at his residence, 131lico Street, early yesterday morning. Tho deceased, who was 57 years of age, was born in Brinklow, Warwickshire, and came out (o New Zealand in 18G4. For a short period he was in tho servico of tho Canterbury Provincial Government, but afterwards settled on the West Coast. In IS9O he took tip his residence in Wellington, and after doing some survey work between Wellington and Otaki entered tho District Itoads Office, in whicli ho occupied tho position of accountant for several years. Ho leaves a widow and an adult family of ono son (Mr. Gilbert How®, of the City Rates Office), and two daughters, Misses Ruth and Barbara Howe. Mr. Peter 11. Robertson, journalist formerly of Wellington, and who, of recent years, was a member both of tho Auckland "Star's" and "Herald's" literary staffs, died on Sunday night. Mr. Robertson had been suffering from lung trouble for several months, and his docease was not unexpected. This evening tlio medals, prizes, and certificates won by musical students in tho Trinity College of Music examinations will bo presented by his Excellency the Governor at tho Sydney Street Hull. Tho Hon. A. L. Hcrdman will preside. Tho annual distribution of medals, prizes, diplomas, and certificates will tako placo at tho Sydney Street Schoolroom tonight at S o'clock. llis Excellency tho Governor, Lord Liverpool, will present tho prizes.
