THEOSOPHICAL SOCIETY.
« Last night, at tho Thoosophical S(V ciety's Rooms, Ballance Street Mr. J. B. Thomson, of Auckland, lectured to a largo audienco on 'The Valuo of Theosophy tc Religion, Philosophy, Science, anil Art." Tho lecturer appealed to his audience to cultivate a larger audi nobler idealism, but emphasised the necessity for keeping nn eyo ever upon the practical. Religion he defined its tho thirst of the limman soul for God, and philosophy as tho application of tho intelligence in the domain of tliought. He pleaded for a larger ooncoption of beauty, intimating that tire artist was primarily a God revenler, one who brought his ideal down to this dull grey earth, illuminating it, transforming this world with a breath of God's glory. Mr, Thomson will remain another month ■in Wellington, and his future lccturw will bo advertised.
