ALLEGED FALSE INVOICES AND DECLARATIONS.
Br Ttlearaoli—Pr«s AjjoolUlon—CosrrJaM London, July 19, The trial of Ealph Milburn, Walter John Ivemsley, Edward William Idle, Bruce Anthony Cuthbertson, and Alfred Edward Kemsley, charged with conspiring with Eaymond Ewart Kemsley, William Crowlo, Cecil Thomas Bray, Charlca j Brown Kellow, Isaac Phizackerley, and ( others to defraud his Majesty's Customs j of duty on motor-cars, cycles, tyres, and ( accessories imported into by j means of false invoices ond declarations, between January, 1905, and June, 1910, has commenced. i One of tho accused, Alfred Komsley, , was absent. There is little probability that he will over bo able to attend. | Mr. Fulton, counsel for the Common- ( wealth Government, in a four hours' ad- , dress, alleged that the firm of Tozer, Kemsley, and Fisher persuaded certain English manufacturers to falsify invoices, and pass on to the Kemsley Company Proprietary, who in turn sent them to 1 Australia; Tho Kemsley Proprietary j controlled all the agencies for the principal cars in the Commonwealth. Counsel i then explained the nature of tho pro- I ceedings which had taken place in Australia. After further hearing of the I case it was adjourned for a week. j ' ■ 1
