MORE TREE-PLANTING.

o SATURDAY AFTERNOON FUNCTIONS. As it was impossible for the Mayor to visit all the schools which participated in tho Arbor Day movement on Wednesday last, Mr. J. I'. Luke arranged, to visit tho Brooklyn School on Saturday afternoon. Tho Mayor, who was accompanied by Mrs. Luke, and Councillor beorge Frost (chairman of tho Reserves Committee) was welcomed by several members of tho School Committee, and after congratulating them on what had already boon done to beautify tho school grounds, planted a memorial tree. Subsequently ho attended a tree-plant-ing function on city lands bordering on tho upper part of tho Ohiro Road, under tlio auspices of the Brooklyn Municipal Association. There ho was welcomed by Mr \. Graham and other members of Hie association. In his remarks tho Mavor referred to tho goo dwork which had already been done by tho association in Iwautifying tho place, which work ha hoped would bo continued in tho future. Tho duplication'of tho tramway line to Brooklyn would feive an Impetus to tho district, but with tho increasing population that would follow, ho trusted they would remember that, in the interests of beautifying and hygiene, it was not desirable to foster anything in the way of overcrowding in that part of the city. Memorial trees were then planted by tno Mayor, Mrs. Luke, and Councillor l'rost.
