$ HIS SWOOP ON SHOP FRONTS. (By Telegraph—Prees Association.) Auckland, July 17. At the Policc Court this morning John Nolan (aged. 27) admitted having committed 28 thefts in the city from shop fronts between May 24 and July 14. The goods takou included two wringers, twelvo pairs of boots, twelve coats, and a large number of carpenter's and plumber's tools, the total valuo being about .£23. Accused handed in a written statement, in which ho said that he ltad stolen goods to buy medicine. He asked to bo given reformative treatment rather than a term of gaol. Mr. Fraser, S.M., stated that this sort of theft would have to bo stopped, but accused was entitled to bo sentenced to reformatory treatment. Ho would be sentenced to such treatment for a period not exceeding three years.
