"American Quakers have now formally protested against (lie use of their nam« nnd religion to advertise commercial articles, and more especially whisky aiu other liquors," says (.lie "Telegraph.'' "'L'he matter was brought before the anconvent ion of the Society of Friends, in New York, recently, when it was re. solved that legislation should lie framed prohibiting the use of the name of any religious denomination as a trade mark. "If Quaker Whisky, why not Baptist Bce.r?" said one of them. "If your automobile is equipped with Quaker tyres, why not carry a Presbyterian pocket-book? If your wife's dress is trimmed with Quaker lace, why not buy a Lutheran looking-glass for her?"'
