Mrs. Annie Kenny, tho Suffragette convicted of conspiracy, but released on license after "hunger-striking," appeared on a platform at the Pavilion, and sold her two prison licenses at auction for J212, for the benefit of the AVoraen's Social and Political Union's funds. Airs. Pankhurst, who is also out on license, came on the platform amidst tumultuous cheering. She declared that Parliament must give votes or kill women. She challenged the Government to kill or give freedom. Suddenly a force • of detectives—with their heads down to protect their faces against the male suffragists, who were brandishing sticks, and the .women, who were usutg hatpins and umbrellas—dashed intoM solid group of women in the centre was Mrs. Kenny. A violent struggle ensued. The detectives seized Mrs. Kenny, and men and women were bowled over in attempting to rescue her. Eventually she was forced into a taxi-cab, and the detectives drove off amid* execrations and shouts of "Shame, Comrades!" from the crowd of women, who with the, detectives bore evidences of the fray. Mrs. Pankhurst was not arrested, having escaped during the confusion. WINDSOR CASTLE REOPENED. (Sydney "Sun" Special—July 15, 6.55 p.m.) London, July 15. The State apartments at Windsor Castle, which were recently closed to the public on account of the fear of Suffragette outrages, have been reopened to visitors. The rooms are guarded by police, and no one is allowed to cany bags, sticks, or umbrellas into them.
