At the wool sales there was a. fair eelccMon of merinos, and competition' was keen at the highest prices of the series. To dale 123,883 bales have been catalogued and 104.784 ttolil. Nominal nuotations, £28 10s. to £29, c.i.f. New Zealamd, fair grade, ruled steady about £25 155., but is now easier at £24 10s., c.i.f.: spot, £25; July to September, fair current Manila, £29. The output from Manila for the week was 12.CC0 bales. Tho Incorporated Society' of Meat Importers' Smithfleld market quotations for the undermentioned classes of frozen meat are based on actual sales of not less than one hundred carcasses of mutton or lamb, or twenty-five quarters of beef of fair average quality. Tho quotations aro not for selected lines, but for parcels fairly representative of the bulb of tho shipments now on the market. Tho prices which follow aro on the 'average a farthing per lb. mofo than tie values ex ship, this difference representing the avcrago cost in expenso, handling, conveyance, and soiling the meat:— . An official ' statement shows' that tho prices of wheat, barley, oats, bread,meats, milk, cheese, and eggs were dca-rer in 1912 than previously. The price of butter was tho highest for nino year 3.
