LONDON PERSONALS. London, June 5. Mr. J. B. Heid', of Ellcrslie, is in lingland. Mr. G. P. Donnelly, of Hawke's Bay, is staying at tiiß itotei Cecil, London. Mr. J. P. Maxwell, formerly general manager of the New Zealand railways, arrived in London last week, and will remain for a few weeks. •Mr. W. Bichardson, of Papakura, leaves shortly for a tour in Scotland. He then will go to Devon, and sails for ( America in July, en route for home. Mr. James Lyons, of Hastings, is at present in England, and intends visiting Scotland, Ireland, and the Continent, returning to New Zealand via America. Miss Edith Lyttelton (known as G. B. Lancaster, novelist) has had a nervous breakdown, and has gone to the Continent to recuperate. : Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Edwards, of Napier, intend staying in Great Britain until early in October, and then leave for the Continent for'a couple of months. Mr. and Mrs. W. Perry, of Masterton, intend to motor through England, Scotland, and Ireland, and also to visit the principal agricultural shows. They leave in October. Dr. A. C. Palmer (Dunedin), Dr. H. C. Darling (Oamaru), and Dr. P. S. Foster (Dunedin), were the only New Zealanders who were successful last week in obtaining the F.R.C.S., London. Mr. W. Parkinson, of Papakura, and his brother, have gone on a .visit to their mother in Scotland. Mr. Parkinson returns to England later, and sails for Canada and America in July, en route for New Zealand. Mr. S. Percy Smith, of New Plymouth, late Surveyor-General of New Zealand, and his daughter, are in England. They go on to Edinburgh, and in September hope to visit the British Association, meeting at Birmingham. ■ Mr. and Mrs. Alex.. Watson, who have "been in London for the past eight months, left on Saturday for their house in Broughty Ferry, near Dundee. Mr. T. Hamer, Auditor to the Dominion Government in London, has been laid up for a fortnight with a severe attack of bronchitis. His friends will be pleased to hear that'he is now well again, and has resumed his duties at the High Commissioner's office. On hearing of the disaster to the Tainui last week, off Finisterre; the High Commissioner cabled to the captain of the relieving vessel, the Garth Castle: "Kindly convey New Zealand passengers my regrets misadventure and congratulations safety."
