EASTBOURNE COUNCIL.

Tho Eastbourne, Borough Council, met on Friday night. The Mayor (Mr. W. J. Organ) presided. The position with regard to a property-owner who had been called upon to carry out work recommended by the Health Department was considered, and it was decided that as no notico had been taken of the council's direction, the clerk should inform the owner that unless the work is dono byJuly 25 the council will take the matter in hand, and charge the cost to him. The Horowhenua County Council's resolutions involving new proposals for the election of harbour boards and hospital boards were approved. Mr. F. J. Munro was appointed permanent workman. The question of establishing a pound for wandering stock was roferred to a sub-coin-mittee, to report to the next meoting of the council. It was decided to again approach tho Postmaster-General, .with a view to obtaining better postal facilities. It was stated that what the council desires ia a now post offico and a slot telephone.
