Tho deceased was wearing a blual sergo suit, ojixl a black sateen shirt. with! soft collar, as usually worn by flreauon.' A card in ono pocket of his coat bore the name of A. Swallow, of tho AVaimato. AYorkeirs' Union. An inquest will bo held; in t'ho Court at nino o'clock this morning,' BABY'S FALL FROM WINDOW. On Saturday tho District Coroner (Dr. A, M'Arthur, S.M.) held an inquest concerning tho death of Frederick Gamble, , aged 14 months, who died at tho Hospital > on July 10. Tlio evidonco went to show j that tho child had climbed out of a bed and fell out of a window, a distanco'of 22' feet. The Coroner returned a verdict to. the effect that deceased died from the! effect of fracture of tho skull, accidentally;! caused. ] SUDDEN DEATH IN CITY. A man named Jolun Smyth, 73 years of ] ago, a blacksmith by trado, died suddenly,, at tho residence of liis daughter, lire. A. Compton, No. 1 Cluurch Street, on Satur-' day afternoon. Deceased had not been in; good health. lately. On Saturday afternoon ho came in from tho yard at tliO: rear of the house, and was about to Bit down, when ho suddenly expired. MAORI DIES FROM GUN-SHOT AVOUNDS. , Gisborno, July 13. ■ Hon Akina was accidentally shot at AA'aiapu on AVcilnesday, and succumbed, to his injuries. SUDDEN DEATH. Duncdin, July 13. Ho was geti ting ready for work, when ho fell down in, ]iis bedroom and expired. Ho is supi l>oscd to havo taken a fit. SUICIDE AT TE MATA. Hastings, July 12. Georgo Richard Martin AVilson, aged l thirty-six, a married man, a station hand employed at To Mata, committed suicido at an early hour this morning. Ho had been complaining lately of pains in the head, and roso at 3 o'clock this morning, and borrowed a gun from another station hand, saying ho was going to dioot cats. A few minutes later his wife heard a report from tlie gun, and found deceased lying on tho kitchen floor with liis head shattered. At the inquest a verdict of death from a gunshot wound, self-inflicted, was returned.
