"WE ARE HONEST."
SOCIALIST ON THE CONGRESS. Mr. J. I, Fox, who attended the Unity of Labour Congress as a representative of tho Seddonvillo Socialist party, on Saturday maxta a statement to a Dominion reporter, giving his party's views on tho congress. "I havo attended congresses at Homo on several occasions as* a delegate for various branches," said Mr. Box, "and this confcrcnco canio quito up to my expectations. It showed a spirit of militancy on tho various matters which wero discussed. "Tho Hon. Mr. Fowldn makes a statement that ho was not surprised at the attitude the congress took up. In my opinion tho majority of tho membars of tho oonferenoo think just the'same about Mr, Fowlds. There was bound to come a cleavage. Mr. Fowlds is a singlo-taxer, and bfclioves that single-tax will relieve all tho ovilu of society. That is his goal. While wo maintain that it might Txj a palliative, if appliod to Tural and Crown lands, it is not the object for which wo 6tand. Secondly, Mr. Fowlds is a strong No-Liocnso advocate, and I venturo to state that tho majority of tho delegates do not believo in that extreme attitude." Mr. Fox furthor believed that both tho industrial and the political sections of their party woyld take up an attitude of absolute independence. Ho thought it was much better to (ell tho peoplo of the country what they stood for, whether tho peoplo agreed with them or not. "At any rate, wo aro honost and consistent in our views," concluded Mr. Fox.
