FIRE ON S.S. OTAKI.
DAMAGE. SLIGHT. About 3 p.m. on Saturday smoko was seen issuing from the aft bunker of tho Now Zealand Shipping Company's Otaki. At the time the vessel was coaling from tho hulks in the stream, and all tho available men were put on to get at tlio Beat of tho fire. They lifted about 100 tons «f coal on deck, and discovered that tlio dam ago was of a very slight nature. Tlio outbreak was caused by an clectrio wiro fusing, and firing tho wood casing. -Tho outbreak was extinguished without the use of water. A. few hundredweight of ooal was scorched. By 10 p.m. on Saturday all trace of firo had disappeared, and tho vessel left at 7.55 a.m. yesterday for Tokomaru Bay.
