WOOL, HIDE & TALLOW SALES.
Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report:— At our fortnightly sale yesterday, in addition to a gopd offering of skins, hides, and tallow, we offered a large quantity of crutchings, which had been specially held for this sale. There was present a large attendance of the trade, representing foreign houses, local woollen mills, as well as tho usual New Zealand buyers. We had no really super lines of crutchings, the bulk of the offerings being fairly heavy in condition, and many lots touched with seed. The bidding was not animated, and the easier tone at present prevailing in tho London sales was reflected hero to-dav. Prices for best crutchings were easier by id. to id., whilst medium and inferior sorts showed a declino of 3d. on last pales' rates. Wool: Crutchings, sood, 83d. to BJd. crutchings, medium, 7Sd. to Bd.; crutchings, inferior. 6d. to 7d.; crossbred, Bid. to 9id.: merino, 83d. to 95d.; bellies, 73d. to 7tSd.: locks, 41d. to 53d. We cannot at time of reporting quote the skin and hide pricos. as these are late in being offered to the buyers. Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd.. report:—Large catalogues of wool, in addition to the usual lot of skins and hides, wero submitted to a big attendance of buyers. Superior crutchings ruled on a par with last sales' rates, but for medium and inferior prices were a id. to 3d. per lb. lower. Skins: These showed a decline of Jd. to |d. per lb., whilst hides were about on a par with last sales' prices, but are not wanted by tanners. Murray, Roberts and' Co., Ltd., report:—We catalogued 545 bales of wool, being the second of tho crutchings sales, and also 5500 sheepskins. 1240 hides, and 300 calfskin!!. The attendance of buyers was very large, including several representatives of Bradford and foreign houses, and while there was not the samo keenness aa regards competition in tho wool, prices werb fully sustained for the superior lots. Good medium crutchings were a farthing lower, while tho seedy und very inferior lots were a halfpenny lower. ' We obtained the nricd 93d. per lb. for ono very Ught-conditioned parcel of crutchings. Sheopsluus sold on tho level of about a farthing lower, while hides also slightly receded in price, being on the average about one-eighth lower. 'Tho United Farmers' Co-operativo Association, Ltd., and tho Wairarapa Farmers' Co-operativo Association, Ltd., report:—The market for crutchings was easier. Superior crutchings sold from par to 3d. declino on the prices obtained at last sales. Medium and Inferior crutchings were lower by 2d. per lb. Crutchings, superior, Bd. to 9d.; medium. 63d. to 73d.; seedy and inferior, 5d to 6jd. Levin and Company, Ltd., report:—Wo offered 550 bales of wool. 2COO sheepskins, 600 hides and calfskins, and a quantity of tallow and horsehair. Wool: We had a large offering of crutchings—some 550 bales. There was a laTge muster of buyers from all parts of New Zealand, representatives of English and Japanoso houses. Pricos were practically on a par with tho last, crutching sale. Our best price was 9id„ several lines reached, 9d„ and the bulk sold at Bd. to Bid. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report:—A total catalogue of about 1200 bales was offered, oomprisod cluiefly of crutchings, with a few lots of flecco wool.
