EXHIBITION OF PAINTINGS.

—4 An exhibition of water-colours, by Mr, Walter Leslie, is now on view at the M'Gregor Wright Gallery in Lambton. Quay. The drawings, of which there aro just over fifty, ato mostly of typical bits of New Zealand landscape; and included in the numbor are many picturesque sketches in and around tho city. The -treatment of tho subjects is, on the whole, bold, and striking, and some excellent effects have been obtained. Ono pleasing bit is a sunset olTect at Oriental Bay. There are several harbour sketches, and in one the battleship figures prominently. Many of the drawings are already marked up ns sold.
