Tho Navy League in London has sent out to Mr. Palmer, the lqcal lion, secretary, a handsome poster issued by the aerial branch of the league. The poster is now on view at tho. Dresden Piano Company's depot, and is quite a work of art. Britajiwa enfolded in the Union Jack is depicted in mid-air, and surrounded by aerial craft of all kinds. Slio is gazing down at a bird's-eye viow of the Bratish Isles, with English and foreign warships dotted round tho coastline. The wording on tlio poster is: "Tho Navy League demands .£1,000,000 for aerial defence—Britons, wake up!" Tho cable messages recently stated that a big public meeting convened by the Navy League was held at the Guiidhall to further tho objects of tho Aerial Defence Association, Prominent men of all shades of political opinion have joined in supporting tho movement.
The Minister for Railways (the Hon. W. H. Hcrries), on tho representations of Mr. G. M. Thomson (Dunedin North), has agreed to grant excursion fares to ex-Otago High School boys who desire to attend tho jubilee of that institution od August 2, Tho celebrations aro to bo of an extensivo character, and will Ijo attended by two members of tho Ministry— tho Hons. 11. D. Bell and A. L. Herdman—and throe members of Parlionient—Messrs. T. K. Sidey, G. M. Thomson, and C. E. Stathnm—as well as by the Hon. Thomas Hislop—all of whom are ex-pupils of the school. Quite a numbor of "old bays" resident in Wellington intend making the trip south. In connection with tho jubilee, tho Otago High School "Old Boys" resident in Wellington have decided lo colebrnto -the event by holding a social gathering hero on August 0- Tho date has been fixed in order to allow those who go South time to spend a few dnyß in Dunedin and return to Wellington. A meeting of the newly-formed Hairdressers' Assistants' Union was held intho Trades Hall on Thursday night, when ; about forty new members wcro elected to tho union. A committee was appointed to draw up the claims of tho union, and submit tho same to tho master hairdressers at an early date. Members of tho Loyal Orange Institution assembled last evening at the Alexandra Hall, Abel Smith Street. Proceedings commenced with a grand marcli, which lasted till 8.30, when the Mystio Circle was formed. The members woro full regalia. Tho attendance was good. At the meeting of the Otago High School "old boys" resident in Wellington, held to consider what steps should bo taken to mark the jubilee of their Alma Ma-tor, it transpired that three of thoso present had attended tho opening of tho school fifty years ago. These were tho Hon. 'J'. W. Hislop (of tho legal firm of Messrs. Brandon and Hislop), Mr. James Mackenzie (Surveyor-General), and Mr. John Mackay (Govomment Printer). All three will try and make the trip south,
