Evidence given before a House of Commons Committee, in connection with tb6 Royal Ascot Racecourse, showed is vested in Viscount Churchill and Sir William Carrington, wlio oontrol anid manage the races on behalf of the King. Viscount Churchill stated that he had only consented to bccome a trustee on condition that tho races were managed on a businoss footing. King Edward had .authorised tho construction of a ss. stand, holding thirty thousand persons. Tho money was borrowed from Coutts's Bank against the security of the Privy Purse. ■ It was proposed to build a shilling stand for the convenience of tho populace,
