NATIONALISED COAL.
BILL IN BRITISH PARLIAMENT. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London, July 9. Mr. Stephen Walsh (Labour) proposes to introduce a Bill to nationalise coal mines and, minerals, and the distribution and sale of coal. (Reo. July 10, 10.20 p.m.) London, July 10. Mr. Walsh's Bill provides for the payment of compensation to bona-fide investors in mines, but withholds compensation in respect of royalty to owners. The compensation, is computed on a fiveyears' output at a maximum rate of 103. per ton where the output is over 100,000 tons, and 12s. per ton for the smaller mines. Payment for the mines would bo acquired by the issue of three per cent, stock, interest on which would be payable out of'the earnings.
