New Zealand, playing: against the wind during the first spell, put up a good fight, but were unable to cross the Sydney line. New Zealand's only score an this spell was a penalty goal by Childs. Sydney scored three tries, of which two were converted—New Zealand, 3; Sydney, 13. Soon after tha kick-off in the second spell Sydney added another try. Then New Zealand took a hand, and tries were scored by Fawcett, Cuthiil, and Withers, which were all converted by Childs, .who also scored a goal from his own mark. Sydney scored just on time, but did not convert. Scores: New Zealand, 21; Sydney. 19. The New Zealand backs handled theMl very finely during the second spell.
