Bell (Suburbs) is asking the Minister for Public Works whether trial surveys have been made of any proposed routes of deviation of the Wel-lington-Palmerston North railway lino.' Mr. Bell is also asking the Minister for Railways, when it is intended to nut. in hand the building of a central railway station for Wellington, and at. what dato it is expected that such station will be completed. THE NEW LYNN SMASH. Mr. A. M. Myers gavo notice of the following questions to the Minister for Railways: Whether, in view of tho fact that the Government Railways Act of 11)08 does not enable liini to Authorise a public inquiry into accidents such as that which occurred at New Lynn recently,. ho will at onco take steps to obtain tho necessary' authority from Parliament by an nmen'djneat of the existing Act, thus assuring

the general publio that in oases of serious accident thero will bo adequate means of ascertaining whether the Department is in any way responsible, and whether all cffcctivo precautions are being taken in (ho interests of public safety?" BUILDINGS WANTED. Sir. D. H. Guthrie (Orouo) is inquiring of the Postmaster-General whether, lie will issue instructions for the rebuilding of tho Kimbolton Post Office recently destroyed by fire. 11 r. G. Jr. Thomson (Dunedin North) is asking the Prime Minister whether it is tho intention of the Government at onco to proceed with the erection of a portion of the Dominion Museum building in order to preservo and utiliso the priceless collections at present stored in unsuitable and dangerous buildings. TEACHERS' SALARIES. Mr. G. Witty (Riccarton) is to ask tho Minister for Education next week whether it is his intention to make the teaching of children more attractive by increasing the salaries of lower-paid school-teachers.
