THE GREY SEAT.
WEST COAST PRESS TACTICS, (By Telegraph.—Special OorrcspunflonM Greymouth, July 8. Mr. H. L. Michel addressed a largo meeting at Blaketown to-night. Tho speaker was well received and made a strong defence of tho Government proving their willingness to trust tho people by an elective Upper House and elcctivo harbour boards. He defended the Government against unfair local attempts to make political capital out of tho Westport Harbour Board. Mr. Michel is roceiving strong support in all parts of tho electorate and strong committees aro working enthusiastically for him, _ tho ladies of Reefton and Greymouth being deserving of special mention. It is anily becoming more evident that the Government hnvo won golden opinions in dealing with law-breakers. The need of a government paper here is being keenly felt. Ono looal paper in Greymouth refuses to insert political matter in defence of Mr. Michel and tho Government, though paid for at advertising rates. .Strong.objection is being token '■locally to this.Mr. Sliohel is a certainty for the second ballot.
