KARORI COUNCIL
The Karori Borough Council met last, evening. Those present were the Mayor (Mr. C. Cathie), and Councillors B. G. Burn, H. Bradnock, T. Davies, J. W. Hamilton, 0. Lewer,' T. 1?. Boyes, W. Skegg, and C. Cimino. The council went into committee over the matter of finance. Correspondence was received from the To Awamutu Chamber of Commerce re level railway crossings. Tho danger arising from unprotected railway crossings was pointed out, and also the desirability ot presenting a signed petition to the Prime Minister, with a view to having matters remedied. It was decided to accede to the request. The District Health Officer wrote re regulations under the Sale of Foods and Drugs Act, aiu} stated that a supply of wall sheets, containing extracts of the regulations of the above Act, had been forwarded. He requested that they should be posted in conspicuous positions throughout the borough.—Granted. The Horowhenua County Council wrote concerning the election of members of the Hospital and Harbour Boards, and forwarded a proposed amendment of the present system of electing members of the above boards. —Received. . The traffic superintendent wrote ro two passengers refusing to pay double fare on the last car on June 26. —Deceived,
