ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
FATAL FIGHT AT HABIHAEI. (By Tclesraph—Press Association.) Hokitika, July 7. A. fatal affray occurred at Harihari, South Wiestland, yesterday morning, whereby Ronald Adamson, aged 30, a son of Mr. Hugh Adamson, of Greymouth, lost his life. _ As .tho result of a quarrel on Friday night, deceased and Samuel Godfrey, aged about 25, had a stand-up fight on Sunday morning, (taring which Godfrey knocked Adamson down. It is supposed tho latter struck his head on a stono, causing unconsciousness. He did not recover consciousness, and when tho doctor arrived from Ross he declared Adamson had been dead some hours. Tho polico haw gone down to investigate. "SCHOOLING"* HORSES. Gisborne, July 7. Mitchell, an Auckland trainer, was admitted to the hospital last Tuesday in an, unconscious state, with a fractured tkull and a broken jaw, the result of a fall when schooling Mapuna. He Iras been conscious for several days, but is in low condition. THE BRIGADESMAN'S FALL. Napier, July 7. Fireman Fred. Gilberd sustained serious injuries while attending an outbreak at the carriage works of Palmer and Selwyn yesterday. He stepped on a skylight, painted the same colour ns the roof of a lean-to, and fell to tho ground. His far,? wa,s badly gashed, the nose being almost severed., The fire was extinguished before ni)ich damage was done. • . '
