MIRAMAR COUNCIL.
SPECIAL BATES LEVIED. A special meeting of tlio Miramar Borough Council was held yesterday for the purpose of passing resolutions to provide for tho interest and sinking fund on two special loans, of JG6OOO and .£3OOO respectively. The Mayor (Sir. F. Townsend) presided. Tho loan of .£6OOO has been authorised to bo raised by tho council for the purpose of completion of tho sewerage scheme now in the courso of construction. • To provido the interest and sinking fund a resolution was carried levying a'special rate of one-sixth of a penny in the .£ upon tho rateable value, on the basis of the unimproved valup of all rateable property within the borough, the rate to be recurring during the currency of tho loan, a period of 26 years, and to bo payablo half-yearly on June 1 and December 1. The loan of .£3OOO is for tho purpose of extension of the sewerage scheme, and to meet this a resolution was passed in similar terms to the above, levying a special rate of Ud. in the £.
Tho resolution will be submitted for confirmation at a meeting of the council to be held on August 14.
