INQUIRIES BY GERMAN SCIENTIST. {By Telegraph—Press Association.) Palmerston North, July 7. A Gorman scientist is at present in tho llanawatu -district, says ;i Pra-s Association telegram, arranging experiments in connection with the iinx industry. Tho intention is to erect expensive machinery at one of. 'tho i flaxmiils to ascertain whether the cost of hemp production can be lessened, and also to experiment with by-products. Tho scientist _is prepared to remain for a year, and, if suec<>=sful, to extend tho time for another twelve months. The' flaxmillers regard the matter as of extreme importance, as tho industry may bo revolutionised by tho cheapening of tho cost of production.
