DISCOUNTS TO BE ALTERED. ' In connection with the City Council's decision to reduce tho cost of ' olcctrio energy for lighting purposes by one penny per unit (approximately), 'his Worship the Mayor (Air. ,T. P. Luke) informed a Dominion representative yesterday that in connection with the reduction, which is to take effect as from October 1, tile lUlectric Lighting and Power Department was at present engaged in drawing out a now basis schedule concerning prices to bo charged and discounts. At present tho scale rale in ordinary was lOd.per unit. Ices 3d. discount up to 100 units. Over' and abovo that amount of current the' discount rates increase. Under tlio new schedule it is proposed to bring tho fihargo down to Bcl. per unit, and to alter tho discount rates. That would mean that the basis rate far current would be roduml by 2d. per unit, but tho discount would bo proportionately less, the not !jain to consumers being approximately ono penny per unit.
