AUTOMOBILE CLUB.

p SUCCESSFUL REORGANISATION. A special general meeting of the Wei-' lington Automobile Club was held last evening, Mr. T. M. Wilford, M.P., presiding. The chairman congratulated the club upon its successful reorganisation. Since the club had been' resuscitated aome sixty odd motorists had become members. He was glad to welcome the motor cyclists present, as members of the Motor Cycle Club were under the misapprehension that theclub wasonly for motor-ear owners. The idea of the club 'was to foster motoring of every description. Ho proposed that tliree members of the' committee be nominated by the Motor Cycle Club. This proposal was carried. The following officers were elected:— Patron, His Excellency the Governor; president, Mr. T- M. Wilford, M.P.; vicepresidents, Messrs. C. H. Izard, and W. L .Meet; secretary and treasurer, Mt. L. Dillon-Kelly; 'auditors, Messrs. 0. Keinbcr, uiul G. T. Hull; committee, ■Messrs.) T. Young, C. C. Larman, C. M. Banks, P. W. Haybittle, H. H. Ostler, and, T. Inglis; delegates to N.Z.'A.U., Messrs. Izard and Wilford. Mr. C. H. Izard (representing the solicitors of the club) reported that the Petone Borough Council had agreed to widen the "hurdles" at Petone, so that they would not be>.any longer a source of danger to motorists. A letter was received from the president of the Chamber 'of Commerce at To Awaniutu asking the club to forward a resolution to the Prime Minister protesting against the waste of human life caused at dangerous level-crossings. It was decided to concur with the request contained in the letter. Mr. Ostler suggested that members of the trade be excluded from the club, but Mr. Banks and Mr. Young held that this matter had been thrashed out before, and it had been decided that members of the trade wero often the most ardent supporters of organisations of the kind, and he further instanced the success of the R.A.C. in England, which wps duo to tho efforts and loyal eo-operation of trade members. 'Clio secretary slated that previous to tile meeting he had been offered 50 guineas as a donation to the funds of the club by a trado motorist, 011 the condition that the donation be treated as anonymous.
