THE DIOCESE OF NELSON,
SEVEN -NEW PAROCHIAL DISTRICTS. At a recent meeting of th? Standing Committee of the Anglican Diocese of Nelson,-seven new parochial districts were defined, the centres of which are Tnpawera, Denniston, Karamea, Ahaura, Maliakinawa. (the Sounds), Wairau, and Murchifon. From the homo mission fund grants were made to the amount of over .£6OO per annum (grants last year came to ,£2SO). \About ,£ooo has been received from the diocesan festivals,' and the two half-yearly collections have yet to be made. The following changes have been made during the last month The Rev. F. Quintrell, vicar of Reefton, to be vicar of Seddon; the Rev. A. E. Parker, vicar of Havelock, to be vicar of Reef ton; tile Rev. A. H. Heron, vicar of Granity, to be vicar, of Havelock; the. Rev. G. Widdup to be' curate .of Denniston; the Rev. H. B. W. White to bo curate of Blenheim; the Rev. W. H. Stych to be curate of Colling-wood; the Rev. G. H. Curie to be curate of Tapawera.; the Rev. G. A. Grossman, vicar of Takaka, to be vicar of Brunnerton; the Rev. J. A. Rogers, B.A. (T.C.D.), to be ohaplain of the Chapel of the Holy. Evangelists and tutor at Bishopdale College.Mr. Anthony Crispe Cottrell, barrister of the Supremo Court of New Zealand, has been appointed advocate of the diocese of Nelson. Three new churches have been opened during the past six months, viz.—the Church of the Holy Nativity, Blackball; St. Andrew's, Ahaura; St. Michael's, Grovetown; St. Thomas's Church, Runanga, has been oonsecrated. The Church of the Resurrection, Cobden,; and a new church at Tapawera, are in the course of erection, and will be opened .shortly. ' A new church of largo dimensions is to be erected immediately at Westport. The BishoJ) of Nelson held an ordination of deacons on Sunday morning last at the cathedral, wlien Mr. Harold Bayne Winsbitry White, of Selwyn College, Dunedin, and L.Th. of Durham (a son of Mr. ,T. J. White, a very old resident of Blenheim'*, and Mr. William Henry Stych (Grade III) were ordained. There are two students at present at Bisliopdale. The Bishop is anticipating the arrival in a few months of two qualified candidates for Holy Orders, one from England, Who has done the Oxford and Cambridge preliminary, and the pther a B.A. of Trinity College, Dublin.
