Mr. O'Dea has decided not to seek reelection at the forthcoming Education Board election. The Mayor, Mr. C. A. Larcombe, has been approached with the request .that lie will allow himself to be nominated to fill the vacancy. As a result of his recent accident, Mr. E. Miller will, it is stated, lose the sight of his right eye. The annual meeting of the Patea Defence Rifle Club was held 011 Friday evening. President Carey occupied the chair.
