OTAKI NOTES.
The'Otaki Native College closed on Friday last for tho mid-winter vacation. During;the last week examinations were hold. 1 District Nurse Lewis's classes in first aid were set a paper by Dr. J. Pottinger, of Invercargill, and the results wero very satisfactory.. The R-ev. A. Don, of Palmerstoa North, Presbyterian missionary working amon" the Chinese of Now Zealand, conducted a service in tho local Methodist Church on Sunday, at which some forty Chinese were present. . Tho service was conducted in ( Chin«se. Sir. Don hopes to hold Tegular Sunday services at Otaki in future/at intervals of about six weeks. 'Mr. A. 0. Pike, of the local post office staff, is to be transferred to Stratford. Mr. Pike has been an enthusiastic member of: the local Tennis Club (he is treasurpr at present), lias occupied the position of . organist at the Anglican Church!, and was at one time conductor of the Otaki Orchestra and Otaki Musical Society.: He will be missed from musioal circles locally. _ . ■ Miss Fellingham. assistant teacher at the Maitakau School, has been ordered three months' rest by her medical adviser.
