• CONVINCING TEST. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Auckland, July 1. Tho Niagara arrived at 2.35 a.m. from Vancouver, having maintained a speed of loj knots on the voyage of 6830 miles, using oil fuel. Mr. Smart, tho Union Company's superintending engineer, states that the oil fuel so far has given com-' plcto satisfaction. ■ There was no hitch' during the voyage. Tho oil proved mora economical than coal, and avoided deterioration of tho ship'B plates through contact with damp coal in the bunkers. Four thousand tons of oil was shipped at Vancouver, and a further supply of 3ofl tons at Honolulu.
