STAGE GLAMOUR.
CURATE IN THE CHORUS. London, Juuo 21. A country curate who applied for a position in the chorus at Daly's Theatre has had his application refused. 1 "The Times," in a leader, congratulates the curate on his failure, saying that it is better to live meanly and cam the affection of one village youth than to obtain the brief enthusiasm of pleasureseekers. In conclusion, "The Times" says:— "Stage-struck people do not think of the drudgery of stage work. They worship stars at their zenith and havo 110 thought of the star that has fallen. Change of fashion, a little ill-health may turn a rich actor or actress into a penniless idler in the lower walks of the profession. With luck and incessant work one may barely make a decent living; yet the stages are crowded, and crowdcd they alwavs will be, for the glamour of the stage is mora dazzling than tho glamour of tho kindlier churcV'—Sydney Sun.'' z 1
