PREFERENCE TO UNIONISTS.
LABOUR PREMIER SAYS NO. By TelcKoph—Press Association-Copyright Perth, June 30. The Premier (Mr. Senddan) told a deputation from the Clerks' Union, asking for preference to unionists in Government appointments, that he was not going to fill the Service with men just because they belonged to a union. He would not employ a man to handlo cash unless he were satisfied that they were trustworthy. The Hon. John Scaddan is head of the Labour party in Western Australia, and became Premier when his party was returned to power at'the elections of 1511. He has worked ns a miner, and latterly was a member of the Engine-drivers' Union, his entry into political life being made through that channel.
