MEDICAL STAFF FROWN,
ON NEW NURSING PROPOSAL. (By Tdeffraph.—Press Association.) Auckland, Juno 30. A suggestion for tho establishment of a sclioal of nursing was mado to the Hospital Board' at its [ last meeting Ijy tho honorary medical staff. Tho matter was referred to the Hospital Committee for consideration, and this was given at a meeting of tho committee this morning. Tho Medical Superintendent (Dr. Maguire) explained that tho honorary staff felt 'flint claims upon their time for visiting wore quite ' onerous enough without tlvo addition of the arduous duties of lecturing to nurses. In other largo /hospitals lectures were paid for and tho staff felt that this practice should be adopted in Auckland. Tho chairman thought. that tho proposal .wnsiquito. reasonable,.:nnd' 'lio ad--1 vised referring tho matter back to ttio honorary staff for suggestions as to tho institution of a school of nursing. Dr. Maguiro pointed out that it would also bo necessary .to consider the question of arranging for'examiners. Tho committee agreed to send tho .matter back to the honorary staff, with a request for additional .suggestions concerning tho appointment of examiners.
