TWO SUSPECTS APPREHENDED. (By Telegraph— Prcas ArcoclalAon.) Christchuixh, Juno 28. Two men were apprehended by tho police to-day. One of them is charged with having, on April 5, broken mid filtered tlie bookstall at tho Government railway .station mt Chrietchurch, and witli having stolen therefrom .£5 in money, tobacco valued at lis. 8d„ and a bag valued at ss. Tlio other maji is charged with having stolen soma tools, including ecveral bits. The police authorities state that one of theso men is probably identical with tho burglar who litis teen operating oxtensively in tlio city and. stiiourbs lately. In view of tho fact thai their inquiries havo not been completed, tho authorities uro somewhat reticent, but they are in hoprs of being able to make a definite utatc-' ment on the subject of these burglaries in a day or two. Two burglaries wero recently committed at Kicearton, tlio houses <>f Mr. Georgs Harris and Mr. W. G. Jamicson being broken into. Both these houses are situated on the West Belt. Tho occurrence! happened on different nights, the all'air at Mr, Harris's house occurring whea tho family wero at dinner. Two purses, rach containing about 95., were taken, besides tome loose coppers, a silver tobacco pouch, and a silver-backed hairbrush. Tlio intruders probably received a fright, and decamped because, if their investigations had been moro thorough, they would havo found a quantity of jewellery which waa in tho house. . A night or two afterwards Mr. Jamiie. sou's house was visited at about half-past eeven, and his daughter's room rifled of a v considerable quantity of jowellery. A baby was asleep in tlio room at tho timo, and Mrs. Jamieson was in the next roombut no sound was heard, and it wae< no! until considerably later that the burglary was discovered.
