DUTHIE gave notioe, that on next-'sitting day he would move the Address-in-Reply. - The Council assembled again, 'after another brief adjournment, at 3.50 p.m. The Imprest Supply Bill was received from the House of Representatives. . The Hon; J. E. JEiNKINSON directed attention to an item, ,£SOO for Hutt railway and road improvement works, andasked whether an assurance could be given that this would be the last vote of its kind. ■ The Hon. H. D. BELL: I can only give the hon. gentleman this assurance: that it is extremely unlikely that the vote .will be, the last one. ■■- , ; . Tho Bill was passed. ORDER BUSINESS. Tho Hon. H. D. BELL, before proceeding to the next business, made an official . explanation' regarding tho Government's , working ' programme. A motion would be submitted that the Council, at its rising, adjourn over next sitting day (Tuesday) out of respect to the memory of the late Speaker of tho House of Representatives. 5 , It was proposed/that the Council Bliould meet on Wednesday' next to proceed with .the Addres's-in-R-ej>ly. They would then be in a better -position to know what business could be brought forward. - He was,not alluding to any unpreparedness on the part of the Government, but necessarily, in the early part of the session, the proceedings of the Council must depend to an extent on the progress made in another place. For the. convenience of members who liad to be absent on Wednesday, ho would stato that no important business ' -would be brought down on that day, other thnn the Address-in-Reply. ' : '
