The Earl of Liverpool entered the Legislative Council Chamber accompanied by the Countess of Liverpool and attended by his aide-de-camp and other staff- officers. Sov- ' eral ladies were provided with seats on the floor of the Chamber, amongst them Mrs. W. and Mrs. A. L. Herdman.; His Excellency commenced to read his Speech at 2.31) p.m. and the reading occupied just a quarter of Aftor the Governor ond his suite ha'd departed the Council adjourned to' reassemble at « the ringing of the bell.
