4 L_— TRAP & MOTOR COLLIDE. (By Telegraph-Special Correspondent) . Hastings, June 27. . An Occident occurred to-day, when Mt. ■W. A. Alexander, foreman of the Tomoana • slaughtering department, in iompany with his wife, was driving along the Omahn Road in the direction of stortford Lodgo. At the junction of the Quarry Road, his trap collided with a motor-car driven by a Maori named Hone fo Whakapae, of Porangahan, who was returning from the races. The impact caused both occupants, of the trap to be flung out on to the road, Mrs. Alexander escaping miraculously. Mr. Alexander, however, fell on his head, sustaining 6uch injuries that he only recovered conscious- . ness at i o'clock this morning. His ponI dition is still serious.
