THE LABOURITE'S HOME.
(By Telegraph.—Speoial Correspondent.) . Hastings, June 27. A. domestic! case, ivhich created Bome local interest, was heard before Mr, S. E. H'Carthy, S.M., at Hastings to-day. The defendant, Gavin B. Allan, was a wellknown Labour organiser. He was charged on the information of his wife, Margaret Jane Allan, with failing to provide her with adequate maintenance, with being miilty of persistent cruelty to her and to her children, and she prayed that a summons might be issued against him to show cause why: (1) A maintenance order should not bo made against him; (2) a separation order should not be made against him; and (3) a guardianship order should not be mado committing to her the legal guardianship of. her three ohildren, aged, - respectively,''iSh years, G years, and 11 month's; Allan conducted his own case. In his Evidence he stated that, having contracted .''miner's complaint," he had been unable, for Borne years, to undertake manual labour. His wife alleged that he not only failed to support her and his family, but, by his obnoxious oonduot and baa temper, made it difficult for her to make a living. She was engaged in nursing, and also was a partner with another lady in keeping a boarding-house. • J After reviewing the. evidence, his Worship made an ord ( eT for separation, and ha gave Mrs. Allan the exclusive guardianship of the children, She was, he Fjaid, the only one of the two who could maintain thein. Provision would be made, if so desired, that defendant could sea the children at intervals of three months. No order was made for maintenance or for costs.
