A Press .Association telegram from Christehurch announces tlio death of.MrHenry Sawtell, who was a number of tho Provincial Council in tho early days, and Mayor of Christchurch in 1872. lie was 79 years of age. Mr. llindmarsh, an inspector for the Bank of New Zealand, is to take tho placo of Mr. I!. W. Gibbs as manager of tho bank at Timaru. Tho Hon. George -Fowlds left Auckland on Monday for Kotorua. At tho end of the week lie intends to como on to Wellington, returning to Auckland m about two weeks' time. The Hons. J. E. Sinclair, J. G. Smith, ,T. Barr, and D. Buddo will arrive from Lyttelton bv the Mararoa this morning;. Messrs. G. \Y. Hussell, G. Laurenson, G. Witty, and T. 11. Davey, M.P.'s, are also passengers by tho same steamer. Jlr. J. B. Harcourt, who journeyed to Sydney in the Tofua, via the Islands, returnee! to Wellington by tho Willcchra yesterday. ' At a mcoting of the Stores Tender Board, held Yesterday, Mr. J. Mackay, Government Printer, was appointed chairman. Mr. W. E. Fuller, coastal shipping manager for Messrs. Levin and Co., who lias been away from his office oil account oj: ill-health, leaves for Kotorua to-day to recuperate.The election of two additional representatives 011 the Palnierston Hospital Board yesterday resulted in. Messrs. !'■ J. . Nathan and. A. E. Clausen being returned.—Press Association, Dr. and Mrs. tiarcia Webster will leave for Australia for al month on Friday. At. last evening's meeting of the Wellington Harbour Board the chairman (Mr. Kobert Fletcher), and Messrs. GV Jones, W. Hildreth, and Captain Watson wero appointed to. represent the Wellington Harbour Board at the Humours Associations' Conference, which k to be held in Wellington on July 30. ,
