r - """ .•The first meeting of the third session of tho Wellington Insurance Institute was held at the Underwriters' rooms last evening, Mr. G. W. Robinson presiding. The , president, Mr. F. G. Cray, was called i away at the bsgirfmng of the week' on urgent, business, therefore the usual preBidotitiaraddress was not delivered. The prize essay of tho Auckland Insti* tute, entitled "The Tiro Proposal," by Mr. GeOTge Beattie, of tho New Zealand Insurance Company, was read by Mt. G. iW. Bell. A full discussion followed. 'It was decided that classes will bo taken in the accident branch during the session. The lectures will be given by Messrs. G. Briarly, G. L. Green, and W. Norrie. Twenty-live members have already enrolled for the classes. The committee hopo to be able to form a "marine" class later on, and there is every indication of a "fire rating class being taken in hand. New books for the library have been or'dered, an expenditure of <£12 12s. being made on the same. Six new membets were elected. The first lecture of tho season will ,bo given by Dr. Gicsen, the subject being ('Malingering."
