CLAY PIGEON SHOOTING.
NEW ZEALAND CHAMPIONSHIP. (By Teleira-ph.—Press Association.) Napier, June 23. On the Napier Gun Club's grounds today, the annual clay pigeon match for the championship of New Zealand was Bhot off. The entries totalled 39, and were considered satisfactory in the extreme, representing the best shots of the whole Dominion. Competitors were present from as far south as Alexandra, and as far north as Auckland. The weather was cold, and a disconcerting wind, with occasional showers, 6wept. across the grounds. The "birds" were active, and frequently deceived the guns, the resulting shooting being very poor. The conditions of tho "shoot" were: Twenty-one birds at unknown nngles, all guns on the 18 vards mark; nomination fee, £2; winner" taking 61 per cent., second 25 per cent., and third 15 per cent, of tho stake. Tho following are. the scores of tho winner and two runners-upß Buick (Masterton) 21, L. Barker (Napier) 19, W.iR. Proflitt (Napier) 19.
