TWO WOMEN COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Reo. Juno 23, 11.5 p.m.) Melbourne, June 23. The two women, .Clarice Co well and Elizabeth Barry, havo been committed for trial on a charge of having attempted l to murder another woman, Mrs. King, by placing strychnino in her tea-cup. The police evidence, tendered at tho first hearing of the case, showed that Barry called on Mrs. King, representing herself as a friend of tho brother of King. She was asked to lave a cup of tea. After the tea had been made, Mrs. King left the room, and on returning 6ipped tho beverage. Discerning a peculiar taste, she did not drink it. She examined it after Barry had left, and found it contained! sufficient strychnine to kill ten people. Both accused admitted the fapts.
