LEICESTER BY-ELECTION
LABOUR CANDIDATE VETOED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London,' June 22, Advanced Labourites bitterly resent the action of the National Executive in vetoing Mr. Banton's candidature for theLeicester seat. The Socialists have adopted Mr. Harley as their candidate. Threo candidates, it was announced a few daya ago, had entered tho contest for the Leicester seat, rendered vacant by the resignation of Mr. E. CrawshayWilliams (Liberal) owing to his being citcd as co-respondent in the divorce case brought by Mr. Herbert Carr-Gomin (Liberal member for Southwark). The candidates wero stated to be:-Messrs. Stewart (Liberal), A. M. Wilshire (Unionist), and Banton (Labour). Na specific intimation has yet been received to the effect that the National Executive had ' actually vetbed Banton's candidature, and on what grounds. That is left to be assumed, apparently.
