The Plunket Society. A meeting 1 of tho Plunket Society was hekl at tho l'lunket rooms yesterday afternoon, Mrs. Algar Williams (president) presiding. Among thoso present were Lady Stout, Mrs. Fitchett, Mrs. Ponsonby, Mrs. Corrigan, Mrs. M'Lcan, Miss Cable, and Mrs. M'Vicar. A considerable amount of routine business was transacted and satisfactory reports from tho nurses were handed in. The rooms continue to bo well frequented by mothers seeking advico for their little ones, Result of the Entertainment for Mrs. Sutcliffe, Yesterday afternoon Mrs. Coull entertained the ladies who acted as chaperones at the recent concert and dance organised in tho Town Hall a littlo while ago for tho benefit of Mrs. Sutcliffe, at a tea given in tho Pioneer Club rooms., As it had been announced that the financial results of tho entertainment would bo given out to thoso present, on additional clement of interest was audod to tho occasion, an interest that changed to picasure at tho news of tho very satisfactory sum that resulted from Mrs. Couil's enterprise. A letter was read from Mr. Fraser, who had greatly assisted Mrs. Coull in tho matter, in which ho announced that tho sum resulting from tho entertainment totalled .£lB3 lis. Mr. and Mrs. F. Chillingwortli, of Grey Lynn, vrilL leave oil July 4 by the Mctkura for .Vancouver, en Touto to England. Tho Mayor of Auckland (Mr. C. J. A Coming Historical Pageant. For some time past pcvcral Wellington people have been busy making tho iiutial jrraugeinonts in connection with a monster pageant ami carnival, to bo held in tho isowlovn. Park next October, for the benefit of tho Wellington Boys' Institute. A sum of .£'2300 is required for a hot building and endowment fiind, anil it it) hoped by this means to gather in tho required amount. Various groups representing historical episodes or periods in either British or New Zealand history are being arranged, tho number of groups ranging from thirty to forty, with in all about 1500 people taking part in them. Tho pageant will l>o a processional one, the groups walking along a prescribed orca of the park, with bands stationed at' different points to add their gaiety to tho scene. In tho evenings (lor tho carnival will last some days) there will bo tableau effects. Stalls for all sorts of interesting tilings will bo erected, and thcro will bo numbers of side-shows. A Historical Committee, consisting of Dr. Hay, Mr. E. E. Nicholls, aud Mr. Morris Fox, has lxK>n. cct up to arrange a programme of historical epochs and episodes. His Excellency the Governor lias consented, to Ijo patron, and will preside at tho inaugural meeting, to 1m held in the Town Hall on Tuesday evening. Y.W.C.A, Notes. ' Mrs. W. E.
