Concerning the resolution of the Chambers of Commerce Conference requesting that the Commonwealth Government should open negotiations with the Bri-. tish, Canadian, and New Zealand Governments, with a view to jointly acquiring control of the cable across the Atlantic from Canada to the United Kingdom, ■and the reduction of tho present excessive rate for commercial cables, Senator Findlay, Acting-Federal Postmaster-Gen-eral, has had something to say. Senator Findlay stated that a subsidiary Imperial Conference regarding cable charges is still considered neoessary by the Commonwealth, though Britain thinks it unnecessary, because the charges have been reduced since the subsidiary conference was suggested at Coronation time.
