DOMINION SCOUTS.
[Br SCOUTMASTER JIYEBS.] §t. Peter's Troop of Boy Scouts spent an- enjoyable evening on H.Jt.S. New Zealand during her last visit to this port. The company marched to the wharf, and the boys and the crew speedily fraternised. Before leaving, the boys . sang "Erery Nation Has a Flag," and lecturettcs were given by an officer of the ship and their scoutmaster. St. Peter's Troop can claim that it wns the first and the last troop that visited the warship in Wellington. During tho warship's last call hero the Boy Scouts of Wellington presented to' tho ship's maicotte, "Pelorus Jack," a greenstono tiki foT its collar. Church parade was held last Sunday, and about 100 scouta attended. Tho troops marohed from the Basin Reserve along Willis Street to St. Peter's Church. After the service the boys fell-in for the march home, where about 300 people watched them move off. A picturo entertainment was held- at His Majesty's Theatre on Thursday night, in aid of the Girl Peace Scouts. St. Peter's Troop assisted by selling tickets.
Mr. Asquith, replying to a question whother, in view of the recent decision with Te6pect to divinity degrees at Oxford, ana the failure of other attempts to bring the University into line with modem idea 3, ho would appoint a Royal Commission to Teport on the changes desirable in the anoient Universities, said that he deplored the recent-decision, but, after considering various proposals fdr the appointment'of Royal Commissions, he had como to the conclusion that such an inquiry would delay the prosecution of necessary reforms,, and was not likely to produce fruitful consequences.
